Equipment[edit | edit source]
Procedure[edit | edit source]
- Combine the yeast, flour, sugar, salt, and ascorbic acid in a bowl
- Combine the melted butter, egg, and milk.
- Using a mixer or your hands, gradually mix the milk mixture into the flour mixture until you get a dough.
- Knead the dough for several minutes until stretchy and smooth.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1–1.5 hours).
- Gently deflate the dough, and let rest for 5 minutes.
- Cut the dough into two pieces, and shape each piece into a loaf.
- Place each loaf into a greased loaf pan. Brush with melted butter, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Bake the loaves for about 25–30 minutes until cooked through.
- Cool completely before unmolding.
