A mental health emergency (or 'crisis'), is a form of medical emergency in which the mental state or mental capacity of a patient is adversely compromised or impaired compared to that considered normal.

Causes[edit | edit source]

The causes and triggers of a 'Crisis' can be complex, and highly subjective to the individual patient.

Whilst a 'crisis' can be triggered by physical injury, for example shock or brain injury, 'Crisis' can present itself independently.

Certain forms of Mental Health crisis can also be triggered as a reaction to certain forms of drug reaction or poisoning.

Assessment[edit | edit source]

Treatment[edit | edit source]

In treating a crisis, the assistance of trained mental health professionals is always advised.
