Nigerian peppered snail is a dish of boiled snails, onions, pepper, and spices. It is easy to make and enjoyed in most Nigerian homes.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- Jumbo snails
- Onions, sliced
- Scotch bonnet chile peppers, grated
- Bell pepper, sliced
- Bay leaf
- Seafood bouillon powder
- Shrimp powder
- Palm oil
- Salt
Procedure[edit | edit source]
- Wash the snails with vinegar and hot water to remove the slime.
- Place the snails in a pot along with the sliced onions, grated peppers, and sliced bell peppers. Add the bay leaf, bouillon powder, oil, and a pinch of salt. Cover with water, and bring to a simmer.
- Simmer for at least 17 minutes, adjusting the seasoning as needed.
- Serve and enjoy.
