Portobello mushrooms are large mushrooms that can be prepared as a vegetarian entrée. They can substitute for hamburger patties, or be eaten alone.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- 1 large portobello mushroom per person
- Olive oil
- Salt (as desired)
Procedure[edit | edit source]
- Remove stems from the mushrooms, then wash and dry them.
- Brush with olive oil.
- Grill for about 10 minutes, alternating sides, until both sides are grill-marked.
Notes, tips, and variations[edit | edit source]
- When cooking on a barbecue, mixing the oil with a water based liquid (e.g. balsamic vinegar) will cause the fire to flare more and give the food more flavour; baste them as they cook.
- Adding other flavours such as garlic and chilli works well. If you are in a hurry, just use vinaigrette dressing.
